College of Fashion & Design Prepares Students for Billion Dirham Retail Industry
Dubai, UAE: Retailing in the UAE is expected to reach Dh200 billion by 2017, growing by a 5 per cent on average each year, according to an analysis by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) earlier this year.
The survey detailed that consumer spending, across various categories, is expected to hit a whooping Dh750 billion by 2017, resulting in the opening up of a tremendous range of opportunities for young college graduates in the fashion retail industry.
The first fully accredited college of its kind in the region, CFD’s Bachelor in Fashion Business Management is set to fully prepare young Arab and expatriate fashion enthusiasts for job opportunities by offering students real-world knowledge.
CFD President, Prof. Abhilasha Singh says, “The retail and wholesale sector plays a very important role in contributing to the economy of the Emirate as it represents 29.2 percent of the GDP of Dubai. As the market continues to grow, experts estimate that there will be continued substantial employability in the sector.”
